Mail For Mac OS X. Adding an email account. Email Tutorials

Requirements

You will need the following information.
  • Mail 2.1 (v752)
  • Your login ID (user name) ex: (joeuser@yourdomain.com)
  • Your password
1. Double-click the Mail icon. (Located in the Dock)

2. From the File menu, choose Add Account....




3. Click the arrow box on the Account Type pop-up list and choose POP Account.

In the Description field, type your email address.

In the Email Adress field, type your email address.

In the Full Name field, type your name.

Click Continue




4. In the Incoming Mail Server field, type: mail.yourdomain (e.g. mail.skylightwebworks.com)

In the User name field, type your email address (the same email address for which you are creating this account).

In the Password field, type your password.

Click Continue




5. In the Outgoing Mail Server field, type the outgoing (SMTP) server provied by your Internet Service Provider (i.e., smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com for SBC/Yahoo customers). If you do not know you're ISP's outgoing mail server, contact their customer service to request this information.

Click Continue on the next 2 screens

Click Done.




6. From the Mail menu, choose Preferences




7. Highlight your account in the left column
Click on the Advanced tab. Check all three boxes. click OK and you are finished.
